- How can I make a reservation?
Fill in the reservations form on our website.
- Is there a camping spot available?
Send an e-mail to info, mention the number of persons and the date you want to come camping, we will check if there is a spot avalaible.
- From when can I make a reservation?
You can make reservations through out the year and for the next year.
- When I make a reservations for 20 persons and I show up with 10 persons, how is the payment settled?
If you change the number four months in advance, it is changed free of charge. When you change this later, you need to pay 80% of what you have requested, in this case you pay for 16 persons..
- I want to organize a group camp, is your terrain suited for this purpose?
Yes, our terrain has multiple options for group camping. We don’t have any inside accommodations so the contestants will have to sleep in tents. (Caravan or camper spots are very limited available and not on the main terrain).
- Do you have indoor accommodations?
No, we don’t have indoor accommodations avalaible (you can check our neighbours at www.hetbuitencentrum.nl).
- Can I come camping with my family at St. Walrick?
You can. For family members who are a member of scouting you pay the scouting rate and for others you pay the non- scouting rate. For families we have Wijcherinckveld avalaible.
Facilities
- Are there indoor accommodations avalaible in which we can sleep/cook/eat?
No, there are not.
- What are the sanitary facilities like?
At the Hut there are 2 blocks of 3 toilets and 3 showers and a seperate sink avalaible. The showers are free of charge, you can press the button 4 times and you receive 1 minute of (almost always warm) water. On the sportveld we have another toiletblock with 4 toilets and 2 sinks. At Heurkensveld are two very simplistic toilets present, you have to flush these with pomping water. At Tommesbos you have to dig your own latrine.
- Do I have to take my own toiletpaper?
Yes you do.
- Are there refrigerators avalaible for provisions?
There are 5 refrigerators (table model) and 1 freezer avalaible for general use for all campers. These are ment for perishable products and not for alcoholic beverages. Your (group)name must be on every product.
- We have medication that needs to be kept cool, is there a place where this is safely put?
In the Hut we have a refrigerator avalaible, specifically for medication. Access to this refrigerator is in consultation with the camp staff only.
- Is there electricity at the camping sites avalaible?
In principal no electricity is avalaible. At a few camping sites we can connect electricity, but this is only avalaible for specific groups (large groups, disabled groups or for specific medical indications). When you make a reservation, mention you want to use electricity and for what purpose.
- Is there Wi-fi at St. Walrick?
No, there is not. In the Hut there is a computer which is connected to internet. The usage of the computer is for staff members only.
- Can I recharge my telephone?
Yes, in the Hut we have several charging points avalaible for staff members, free of charge. They are not meant to be used for youth members.
- Do you do waste seperation?
We seperate glass, paper, fuel waste and batteries, all of the other waste falls under ‘restafval’. The disposal of theme material, broken chairs or tents is your responsibility and is not allowed at St. Walrick’s. For more information about waste seperation, look here. - Can I make a fire at my camping site?
Yes, provided you make it on the fire stone in the fire container (loanable at the Hut). Off course a bucket of water and a shovel need to be present also. In the event of drought, additional measures apply or a general fire prohibition.
- Which camping sites are available to hang on my hammock?
All forest terrains are suitable for hanging on your hammock.
Hikes and activities
- Are there any hikes available?
www.stjoristocht.nl The nature trip is about 5 kilometers including little assignments that have to do with nature and the environment.
- Do you have a hiking terrain where I (free of charge) can spend the night, when I camp at St. Walrick’s the rest of the week?
In the months July and August it is frequently possible to camp at our primitive terrains (Tommesbos or Heurkensveld) depending on the availability. Otherwise that is only possible at Wycherinkveld, also depending on the availability. These terrains are on the other site of the road on walking distance of the main terrain.
- Is it possible to build rope or zip lines?
Yes, on your own terrain and provided you bring your own material. You can’t cross paths, roads and need to consult with the camp staff previous of building your lines. When your own terrain is not suited for building, you can consult with the camp staff to see if there is another terrain avalaible. The trees must be protected with jute (or something similar) so no damage is done. The use of these lines is at your own risk.
- Which activities do you offer at St. Walrick’s?
We have GPS devices for rent, multiple caches can be found around the terrain. Furthermore we have various backpacks (water, nature, samurai) for rent. (For more information click here.
- Which activities are there in the surroundings of St. Walrick?
DTo many to mention here. In the vicinity of St. Walrick there are swimming pools, bicycle rentals, canoe rental, a corn maze, playgrounds, lasergaming and various musea. For more information click here.
- Can I make a reservation for activities in advance?
No, you can’t reserve activities in advance. If you come camping in a summer week, we organize a central information meeting, at the meeting you can reserve activities.
- Are there games we can borrow?
Yes, there are several games you can borrow. Among them are Kubb (Bowler), domino, big mikado and frisbees. Furthermore we have a large offer of nature education programs. For the full offer click here.
Pets
- Are dogs or other pets allowed access on the terrain?
Yes, dogs are allowed, provided they are one a leash. Of course walking the dog must be done outside the terrain and dogs are not to cause any inconvenience to other campers. Droppings must be cleaned up. Pets other than dogs are only permitted after prior consultation.
- May I cross the terrain with my horse/pony?
This is only allowed on the bridleways.
Material
- What kind of material is there for rent?
We have pionering wood, tables/benches, BBQ’s, nature backpacks, a solar oven, wooden games, nature education games and GPS devices for rent.
- Is there firewood?
Yes, there is firewood. You can gather wood on your own terrain, off course leaving the wooded banks alone. Furthermore, you can buy firewood.
- Can I use the luggage carts for everything?
No, they are only ment for luggage or pionering wood. They are especially not ment to transport people or to use as a table or something. After usage you are to transport them back to the assembly point.
- Can I chop down or saw a dead tree?
No, there is no chopping or sawing in standing trees, either dead or alive. Processing the bark of a tree is not appreciated. No chainsaws may be used on the site.
Camping with disabilities
- Can I come camping with my group with disabilities?
Yes, mention this in your reservation. A field will be reserved in the proximity of the main building.

Parking
- Where can I park my car?
This is possible in the parking lot at the ‘sportsveld’. You will receive 2 parking tickets per reserved site. If there are more cars, they can park in the parking lot of the Heurkensveld. Cars for Tommesbos can park in front of Tommesbos.
- We have a truck wit hus, where can it load/unload?
Provided that it is not too large, it can drive backwards onto the path towards the parking lot at the ‘sportsveld’, where loading and unloading can take place.
- I come with the caravan/camper/folding trailer, where can I stand?
We are allowed to let a maximum of 7 caravans/campers/folding trailers camp at the same time on the Wycherinckveld (only open from Easter until 31 October). This must always be reserved. There is more room on Wycherinckveld in the Nijmeegse four- day walk week.
- Can I drive my car on the terrain?
No, this is not allowed the entire site is car-free.
- I have a trailer with me, how does it get to my site?
We have a knuckle cart available for this. If there is camp staff who can ride on the tractor, then you can also ask it they want to bring your trailer to the site. This is at your own risk.
- Can the trailer be on my own site for the entire camp period?
We would rather not have this, the supporters are parked along the edge of the ‘sportsveld’ during the camp period.
ScoutShop
- What assortment do you have?
We have a limited range, mainly consinsting of small materials, such as flashlights, pocket knives, books, tie rings etc. We also sell the scoutfit blouses and the 100% original sweaters. If you want to order something or ask if something is available, mail with ScoutShop.
- Can I also order things?
Yes, this is possible, send an email to ScoutShop and they will order it for you and you can pick it up in our Scout shop. In the winter period it may take a little longer before it arrives.
- Can I fit het Scoutfit blouses?
Yes, we have fitting blouses. (But no fitting rooms).
- Can I also pay with a pin?
Yes you can. In the winter period this is even the only payment option (November till April).
Become a volunteer
- Can I also become a volunteer at St. Walrick Scouting Camp site?
Are you enthusiastic, do you have leadership experience and have you been camping with a group more than once? Then send an email to management with your motivation and details and they will contact you.
